Job Description:

The candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community and have a desire and ability to work with a diverse population. The Academic Counselor for the EEC Career Pathways Grant is a part-time grant position whose main function is to support the career and academic goals of the participating students through advising, coaching, and collaborating with the grant director to plan and deliver services that will meet students needs.

Assisting educators in planning their own professional development, linking them to college supports, and tracking and reporting on their progress are key tasks. The Academic Counselor will work with all areas of the grant to deliver student services that align with the Department of Early Education and Care s strategic priorities and requirements, including planning course offerings, recruiting, enrolling, advising and coaching adult learners entering or already in the field.

Responsibilities

and Duties
  • Provide advising and coaching for students enrolled in grant courses.
  • Serve as a liaison for adult learners and workforce educators enrolled in grant courses including developing an Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) focused on career and academic needs, advising and directing students to other college supports, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with lead personnel to determine course offerings.
  • Collaborate with college offices and community partners on recruitment and registration of grant students.
  • Work with lead personnel to ensure that all project goals and related tasks and timelines are completed in an efficient manner, including data collection, reports, and evaluations.
  • Prepare documents related to the grant, as required, including maintaining records of student progress for reporting purposes.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth s Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
  • Other duties related to maintaining compliance under the terms of the grant and supporting the work of the grant.
Job Requirements

Master s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training involving college admissions, academic advisement, career development, or program/project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in the Early Childhood field.
  • Knowledge of community college academic programs, services and culture.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the Department of Early Education and Care s regulations pertaining to staff and the Department s priorities and directives.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse, multicultural, and non-traditional students.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Efficient, detail-oriented, self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines and work well with a minimum of supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.

Additional Information

Position Status:
Part-time non-benefitted Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) union position.

This position is subject to grant funding (EEC Career Pathways Grant) and is currently funded through June 30, 2025.

Hours:

Up to 15 hours a week (Not to exceed 800 hours annually)

Salary: $35.31 per hour

Worksite:
This position will be primarily assigned to the Brockton Campus but assignments will include all Massasoit sites.
