JVS Boston, a non‑profit, non‑sectarian agency, seeks volunteers to assist weekly at our offsite location in Brockton on Monday, Tuesday, and/or Thursday from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. The volunteer will support the vocational English and job readiness classes for immigrants. You'll lead small groups or provide individual assistance and feedback on English and communication skills, job search and retention techniques, workplace orientation, financial literacy, technology literacy, and life skills.

JVS’ Refugee Services has provided direct employment services to local refugee populations for over 40 years, offering job search assistance, resume and interview preparation, cultural orientation, pre‑employment vocational English language classes, and post‑employment support.

Assist the JVS instructor in delivering vocational English and job readiness classes, provide individual and group support, and give feedback to students.

• Interest in working with people from diverse linguistic, cultural, religious, ethnic, and national backgrounds.
• Commitment to learning techniques for teaching adults with limited English proficiency and classroom management.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, changing work environment.
• Ability to work as part of a team with staff and other volunteers/interns.
