Position:
Unit Coordinator SEIU
Department:
Med Surg
- Cardiac Telemetry 2A
Schedule:
24 Hours (3p-11p), Rotating Weekends
- Provides technical assistance to nursing staff and performs a variety of computer, clerical, scheduling, and supply functions necessary for unit operation.
- Receives and greets visitors, patients, and staff; responds to questions appropriately and refers items to authorized staff.
- Answers telephone calls promptly and courteously; maintains positive communication with other departments; makes telephone calls to physicians, other departments (e.g., Information Systems), and informs physicians of admissions.
- Assists staff by running errands, delivering specimens and paperwork, and checking mail.
- Keeps nurses informed of incoming reports, new orders, and other messages.
- Demonstrates awareness of patient privacy and confidentiality rights.
- Transcribes physician and nursing orders accurately, neat, and timely; places appropriate orders onto the nursing Carded.
- Assembles, labels, and organizes the medical record for patient admissions.
- Secures records from previous admissions as needed.
- Accurately enters orders into Epic.
- Fax medication orders to pharmacy; notes dangerous abbreviations and contacts physicians for clarification; records time called in margin of physician order sheet.
- Prepares chart for discharge and ensures chart completeness; compiles all discharge paperwork.
- Enters discharges into computer.
- Notifies administrative manager of unit activities such as changes in patient conditions.
- Accurately files test results in a timely manner.
- Copies documents as requested for unit personnel.
- Increases knowledge and use of hospital computer system as new programs are developed.
- Maintains and orders clerical supplies for the unit as directed by nurse manager.
- Reports broken equipment, enters work orders into Epic, and calls outside vendors regarding special equipment.
- Begins work promptly and reports to and starts work on time.
- Gives adequate notice of absenteeism or tardiness.
- Maintains professional appearance in accordance with dress code.
- Asks appropriate questions within job description if an unfamiliar circumstance arises.
- Performs work of equal skill, effort, and responsibility as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. - Experience:
Minimum one year of clerical experience. - Knowledge &
Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; computer skills required; knowledge of medical terminology required; preferred experience in an outpatient setting.
Range: $16.99 - $25.24 per hour.
Pay determination considers education, experience, and certifications directly related to position requirements. Total compensation includes medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, 403(b) matching, paid time off, and career advancement opportunities.
