Overview
Position:
Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (36 Hours, 3p–3a, rotating weekends) at Boston Medical Center (BMC).
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides care that addresses the needs of patients across age ranges from infant to elderly and adapts to a variety of needs related to impairments (e.g., hearing, sight), substance use, language, and potential victims of abuse. The ED RN incorporates knowledge of patient rights and our mission, vision, and values into nursing practice.
Responsibilities- Assume full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided to individuals and groups.
- Provide health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, restoration of optimal functioning, and/or comfort for dignified death where applicable.
- Delegate nursing tasks to other registered nurses or healthcare personnel as appropriate, while maintaining accountability for patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate excellent assessment, clinical, organizational, and computer skills; perform charge responsibilities as needed.
- Lift, transfer, and move patients; communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English; perform required mathematical computations for treatment protocols.
- Education:
Nursing degree required (diploma, ASN, or BSN); ability to obtain BSN within 4 years required. - Licensure/
Certifications:
Valid Massachusetts RN license and BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred. - Experience:
Prior experience in an emergency department is preferred.
