Position SummaryThe Critical Care RN assumes full responsibility for the quality of nursing care she/he provides to patients and their family members, including health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, comfort and restoration of optimal functioning. Responsibilities often include dignified death of patients. Within the parameters of her/his education and the Nurse Practice Act, the RN may delegate nursing activities to other RNs or health care personnel.
The RN provides individualized care to all age groups from adolescent to elderly and addresses impairments such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, non-English speaking, and potential victims of abuse, incorporating patient rights, mission, vision, and values into nursing practice.
- Education:
Nursing Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred); must obtain BSN within 4 years. - Experience:
3 years critical care experience or completion of GSMC transition to Critical Care course; must maintain required competencies in a CCU setting. - Certification/Licensure: MA RN license, BLS, ACLS, TCAR or TNCC.
