High Point & Affiliated Organizations is a health and human service agency whose mission is to treat and prevent substance use disorders and mental illness. High Point has programs located throughout Southeast Massachusetts offering a full continuum of care for substance use and mental health treatment, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. Programs and services also assist survivors of abuse, violence, and families experiencing homelessness.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced Practice Nurse with appropriate graduate degree in nursing
  • Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the American Nurses Credentialing Center
    (ANCC) or similar regulatory body recognized by the Board of Nursing in the
    Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • The APN must have a valid RN/NP/APN license along
    with MA Controlled Substance and federal Drug Enforcement Agency Registrations
  • Knowledgeable in the area of internal/family medicine as well as in the fields of chemical
    dependencies and psychiatric illness
  • 3 to 5 years of current advanced practice in a primary care or specialty clinical environment
  • CARN-AP board certified is preferred, but not required
REQUIREMENTS
  • Demonstrates ability to practice evidence based primary medical care for acute, chronic, and urgent health care issues
  • Demonstrates ability to work with the alcoholic/chemically dependent population as well as the mental health population
  • Will participate in the training of staff members
  • Practices collaboratively with nurse practitioners, physicians, nurses, therapists and the Medical Director of the Primary Care Clinic
  • Certification in the HPTC approved de-escalation program
  • Certification in CPR/BLS training
  • Screening for TB and other communicable diseases annually
  • Completes all HPTC required training
  • Maintains malpractice insurance
  • Must present as professional and courteous at all times both internally and externally in accordance with the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Basic computer skill to include familiarity with electronic health records
  • Boundary and limit setting skills
  • Ability to manage medical and/or psychiatric emergencies
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides evidence-based primary medical care to clients with acute, chronic, and urgent health care needs
  • Compliance with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part II, Confidentiality of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Patients and HIPAA
  • Complies with all Federal HIPAA regulations
  • Meets with collaborating physician as outlined in the HPTC MD/ANP Collaborative
  • Agreement and as mandated by law
  • Ensures training for all staff as needed
  • Collects and enters data needed for various reports
  • Consults with Director of Admissions, Intake Coordinator, Inpatient Units, Residential Programs, other HPTC staff and programs, and Courts as required
  • Maintains professional relationships with DPH, Courts, DCF, DYS and other outside collaterals
  • On-going participation in marketing and community relations as required
  • Responsible for overall care of patients by ensuring evidence-based best practices are adhered to
  • Remains informed of current information concerning HPTC policies/procedures
  • Attends mandatory trainings and meetings as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP/COO of Outpatient Services to ensure safe and appropriate operation of the facility
