The Shortage Control Associate (SCA) is pivotal in maintaining a secure shopping environment and delivering exceptional customer service. Your presence at store entrances, exits, and high‑risk areas helps mitigate theft, enhances customer confidence, and supports a positive shopping experience.

• Maintain a professional appearance, wearing the designated dress standards, radio, and earpiece.
• Remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings while positioned at the front of the store.
• Greet every customer with a warm smile and a friendly, loud greeting to promote a sense of control and security.
• Create a secure environment that reduces opportunities for theft.

• Possess mastery of top shortage areas and support programs aimed at theft reduction.
• Communicate theft‑prevention information during store rallies and collaborate with the Manager on Duty.
• Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates to ensure adherence to safety and security standards.
• Understand your role in keeping the store and assets secure.

• Support training associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.
• Role‑model safety as a top priority and address unsafe practices promptly.

• 1+ year of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations is preferred.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while visually monitoring the store environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to review, analyze, and comprehend business trends.
• Positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with detailed focus and disciplined decision‑making.
• Excellent communication with customers and co‑workers.
• Leadership skills that foster productive business relationships.

Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Competitive wage of $15 per hour, flexible hours, and an associate discount. Part‑time associates may be eligible for Burlington’s benefits package (medical coverage and a 401(k) plan), up to 4 hours of paid time off annually after one year of service, up to 8 paid holidays, and paid sick time in accordance with applicable law.
