For over seven decades investor-owned utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, and others have entrusted their electrical construction and maintenance needs to Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. (Elliot).

Elliot is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in overhead and underground distribution, transmission, substations, lighting, traffic signaling, utility locating and industrial/commercial services.

We are seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Field Safety Director in our Western Region. The Field Safety Director position will be based in Broken Arrow, OK and will serve crew members across Oklahoma and surrounding states.

Position Overview

The Field Safety Director will provide strategic leadership in the development of safety and training execution in support of a safe and profitable operation that strives to continuously improve safety results. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and sustaining a strong safety and training culture through risk reduction and injury prevention efforts, as well as maintaining compliance with Elliot policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

The Field Safety Director will report to the Western Region Safety Manager and has the responsibility to execute and document safety and training tasks and initiatives across the region. The successful candidate must work collaboratively with Regional Safety, Training, and Management teams to identify and lead appropriate initiatives that deliver continuous safety improvement.

Qualifications / Education / Experience Requirements

The successful candidate must have the ability to organize, plan, delegate, lead, and develop team members through coaching and performance improvement, motivate and effectively influence all levels of the organization, and maintain effective organizational controls.

Preferred qualifications include:
  • 8–10 years of power line construction experience in transmission or distribution
  • Minimum 2 years of power line crew management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, influence, and lead multi-functional teams and foster a proactive team environment
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA, NESC, and other federal and state regulatory requirements
  • Proven leadership and communication skills with strong collaboration and influencing abilities
Expectations and Accountabilities
  • Provide management and leadership in safety, health, and training to help reach World Class objectives of safety, quality, and customer service.
  • Support a process for continuous feedback and system assessment.
  • Provide leadership, development, and direction for front-line and general supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state and federal regulations, and Elliot reporting requirements.
  • Lead safety initiatives that achieve measurable improvements in safety performance.
  • Foster a culture where safety is recognized as a core value and employees are motivated to maintain safe work practices.
  • Identify, evaluate, and coordinate the implementation of new methods and approaches to accelerate safety improvement.
