JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the cultivation and stewardship of major donations and grants in support of assigned university operations, generally $25,000+.

MAJOR DUTIES
  • Formulates and implements policies for cultivating and stewarding major gift donors; revises policies when laws, regulations, or best practices require it.
  • Uses independent judgment and available data to determine and implement appropriate and specific strategies for the selection, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors whose gifts can impact the university’s operations.
  • Creates prospective major donor and major donor promotional materials in conjunction with NSU communications and marketing personnel.
  • Creates and negotiates scholarship guidelines and monitors the process to ensure proper and timely awards and that guidelines are in line with major donors’ intent and current law.
  • Uses discretion to research, create, manage, and submit grant applications that will impact university operations in conjunction with NSU’s Research and Sponsored Programs Office.
  • Determines appropriate major donor recognition policies and plan events for major donors.
  • Develops faculty and staff giving policies and operating practices, especially those who make ongoing monthly gifts or multi-year pledges.
  • Ensures that all donor data is maintained and protected.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of budget development and management principles.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
