Job DescriptionUnder general supervision, operates heavy and light equipment.
Essential Job Functions- Installs proper warning devices at work sites.
- Mows and sprays city right-of-ways.
- Cuts down and/or trims trees in emergency and non‑emergency situations to repair road ways.
- Operates a dump truck in support of construction and repair activities.
- Operates an asphalt paver, vibrating roller, or box blade tractor.
- Operates a snow plow/sander during ice and snow events.
- Operates an excavator/track hoe in tree removal, creek maintenance, demolition, and excavation.
- Operates a bulldozer in road construction, demolition, and landscaping.
- Operates a street sweeper.
- Cleans storm drains.
- Removes trees and cleans storm damage.
- Removes dead animals.
- Assists other crews with transporting materials, equipment and oversized loads.
- Installs, repairs and removes storm drain pipes.
- Loads and unloads trucks by hand or with equipment.
- Maintains city street signs, traffic control devices, barricades, and traffic cones, if assigned.
- Performs routine maintenance on trucks and equipment.
- Performs duties of the crew chief in his or her absence.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent, with one to two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess or be able to readily obtain a valid Class A CDL driver’s license, truck and trailer with no restrictions and tanker endorsement, issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
OSHA 10 and 30 certifications, FEMA emergency management and pesticide applicator license preferred.
Tasks involve the ability to exert exceptionally strong physical effort in very heavy work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 150 pounds). Must submit to drug screening and DOT physical.

Work is safety‑sensitive and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies. Retirement- The City offers a 401(a) defined contribution retirement plan through the Oklahoma Municipal Retirement Fund (OMRF). The City contributes 10% of the employees’ earnings into the plan. Employees become 20% vested after three years and vesting increases 20% for each additional year of service until 100% vesting is achieved at seven years. Employees may elect to contribute an additional amount.
