Our client is a well-established building restoration and refurbishment contractor based in Kent, with over 24 years of industry success delivering high-quality projects across London and the South East.
The RoleThe Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for a variety of building restoration and external refurbishment projects ranging in value from £300,000 to £500,000, with projects occasionally exceeding £1.4 million.
Working closely with senior management, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, you will lead the estimating function and ensure all submissions are delivered to the highest professional standards.
Key Responsibilities Estimating & Tender Management- Preparation and submission of detailed and accurate project estimates
- Assessment, coordination and management of tender bid activities
- Preparation, adjudication and submission of competitive tenders
- Conducting take-offs and analysing project documentation
- Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Reviewing specifications, drawings and contract requirements
- Preparing pricing schedules and tender documentation
- Following up submitted tenders and supporting negotiations where required
- Managing pre-contract and bid activities from enquiry through to submission
- Identifying project risks and opportunities during the tender process
- Supporting project handovers to the operational team upon contract award
- Maintaining and developing relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
- Assisting with business development opportunities and repeat client work
- Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams throughout the estimating process
- Clearly communicating work requirements and project scopes to subcontractors
- Attending tender review meetings and pre-contract discussions
- Providing accurate reporting and updates to senior management
- Maintaining organised estimating records and documentation
- Minimum 10 years' estimating experience within the construction industry
- Proven track record working for a Main Contractor
- Strong experience within building restoration, external refurbishment or façade-related projects
- Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials and pricing
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation - Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Knowledge of heritage, restoration or specialist external refurbishment works
- Relevant construction or commercial qualifications
- Established network of subcontractor and supplier contacts
