Learning Support Assistant

  • Job Type: Part-time, Term-time only (Monday - Wednesday, 9 am - 4 pm)

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team s role is crucial in providing essential learning and accessibility support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with severe and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide person-centred learning support to students, facilitating their access to and achievement of learning programmes.
  • Support students' access to all college services and activities, and facilitate personal development of learning/study skills.
  • Work with individuals or small groups to encourage engagement with activities or to work independently.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility as necessary, following instructions from learners regarding their support needs.
  • Support lessons including Adult Maths, Functional Skills Maths, GCSE English, and Practical Hair Level 2.

Required Skills &

Qualifications:

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills, with a strong understanding of both Maths and GCSE English.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, parents/carers, and other agencies.
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment and an understanding of safeguarding, discrimination issues, and the challenges faced by those with learning difficulties.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Good IT knowledge and sound administration skills.
  • Experience of working with SEN learners in a secondary or further education environment is desirable.
