A specialist secondary education setting in Bromley is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Behaviour & Pastoral Mentor to join its dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students who require additional behavioural, emotional and pastoral support, helping them re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

Your Role

As a Behaviour & Pastoral Mentor, you will become a trusted adult for students, providing daily support, guidance and encouragement while promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building positive relationships with students to improve confidence, attendance and engagement.
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom to minimise barriers to learning.
  • Delivering one-to-one mentoring and structured intervention sessions.
  • Supporting students during reflection, reset or intervention periods following behavioural incidents.
  • Using restorative approaches to help students reflect on their choices and rebuild relationships.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral leaders and safeguarding staff to implement individual behaviour strategies.
  • Monitoring behaviour, wellbeing and progress while maintaining accurate records.
  • Promoting a calm, safe and respectful learning environment throughout the school.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people in schools, alternative provision, youth work, residential care or community settings.
  • Is calm, resilient and able to remain professional in challenging situations.
  • Can establish clear boundaries while building trusting relationships.
  • Has strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to succeed.
  • Understands safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.

Experience supporting students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, trauma or social and emotional needs is highly desirable.
