About the Role

You’ll play a key part in supporting learners who may experience barriers to behaviour, learning, communication, or engagement. Working closely with education and care teams, you’ll help create a safe, positive environment where people can thrive.

  • Mentor and support learners
    by building trusting relationships and offering encouragement that meets individuals where they are.
  • Promote positive behaviour
    using consistent approaches, de-escalation techniques and clear boundaries.
  • Assist learning and engagement
    by breaking tasks down, reinforcing understanding, and supporting progress in lessons and structured activities.
  • Contribute to planned interventions
    , including behaviour support strategies and learning plans, in line with agreed targets.
  • Support daily routines
    to help learners feel secure and capable—whether at the start of the day, during transitions, or through recovery after setbacks.
  • Record and report
    relevant observations using appropriate systems, ensuring communication across the team is accurate and timely.
  • Work collaboratively
    with teachers, support staff, families and other professionals to ensure support is joined up and meaningful.

  • A
    strong commitment to safeguarding
    and the wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Experience of working with young people or vulnerable adults, either in education, care, youth support or another relevant setting.
  • A good understanding of
    behaviour as communication
    and the importance of early, proactive support.
  • Ability to remain
    calm and consistent
    during challenging moments, using de-escalation and positive engagement.
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to build rapport with learners and communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail for recording and follow-up.
  • Willingness to learn and take part in training, development and supervision.
