Role Overview

As a Fibre Systems Technician, you will be at the heart of the technology that powers Formula
1. Working as part of the Circuit Networks team, you will help deploy, operate and maintain the fibre optic infrastructure that enables the delivery of live broadcast, timing, telemetry and communications systems at events across the globe. Combining technical expertise with a hands‑on approach, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of the systems that connect every aspect of a Formula 1 race weekend.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Optically testing, inspecting and commissioning the fibre optic network at F1 events using optical test equipment and end-face cleaning procedures.
  • Work within project teams to build systems to the highest standards providing reliable and resilient technical solutions.
  • As the fibre optic service provider, you will assist in supporting, configuring and monitoring the system for the broadcast, IT, and communications network.
  • Required to ensure the upkeep of equipment list/manifests and liaise with freight department, order new consumables and technical products when requested.
  • Firsthand technical support and fault finding for track side systems including Track cameras, FIA marshalling, Telemetry, data acquisition and timing as well as paddock systems and F1 team integration.
  • Undertaking race event preparatory work and be able to liaise with F1 departments to ensure Circuit Networks race planning is completed in adequate time.
  • Able to provide support to test, service and terminate single mode fibre using a variety of connectors.
  • Confident in general wiring practices and termination of data/power cables when required.
  • Keep an interest in new technologies and developments in relation to Track Systems, including contributing to system design and project team involvement.
