Role Overview
Are you looking for a new challenge in a fast‑paced environment? If so, this could be the role for you! You will be responsible for providing an effective service for all visitors presenting in the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Princess of Wales Community Hospital. Although you will be the first point of contact for our patients, you will maintain a professional, efficient, and courteous reception service—both in person and over the phone—while ensuring patient confidentiality.
The position is a 16‑hour post to cover evenings, weekends, and occasional daytime cover.
The successful candidate must be flexible, forward‑thinking, proactive and comfortable delivering high‑quality service to our patients. Excellent communication and empathy skills are essential for this challenging role.
Responsibilities- Book appointments, transport arrangements, and manage bookings for the MIU.
- Respond to queries and requests for information in line with office procedures, guidelines, and protocols.
- Refer complex or unusual requests to the Team Administrator or a member of the clinical team.
- Work collaboratively with other staff to promote a smooth and efficient workflow within the department.
- Undertake assigned administrative tasks, including formatting letters and reports.
- Carry out photocopying and printing duties.
- Regularly check on the tidiness and cleanliness of the office environment, taking action to resolve any problems.
- Participate in a range of shifts, including evenings and weekends, to meet service requirements and demands.
- Assist the MIU Manager in reviewing office protocols and guidelines by providing advice on changes to working processes.
- Attend team meetings as required.
- Carry out any other clerical duties that may be necessary to facilitate rapid patient flow and operational efficiency.
- Current right to work in the UK; the Trust is unable to provide sponsorship.
- Flexibility, forward‑thinking attitude, and proactive approach to work.
- Excellent communication and empathy skills.
- Experience or aptitude for reception and administrative duties is desirable.
- 27 days leave plus bank holidays; increasing to 33 days with long service.
