Outdoor Training Apprenticeships at Blackwell Adventure 2026

Blackwell Adventure based in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, is looking for Apprentice Outdoor Instructors for January 2026 on an 11‑month Apprenticeship.
As an Apprentice Instructor you will deliver exciting and fun activity sessions to our guests, who range from schools, scouts and guides and some adult groups. The apprenticeship will consist of on‑site training as well as attending some external courses, leading to you running sessions with our guests on your own.
Our Apprentice Instructors will be dynamic and have a passion for wanting to work in the outdoor industry. You will need to be confident, outgoing, and able to stand in front of a group of people and enthuse them about your industry. You will be in the limelight representing Blackwell and so will need to conduct yourself in a way that promotes Blackwell and the outdoors.
You will be responsible for ensuring the children and groups staying with us want to come back and visit us again.
What sets Blackwell apart from the rest… We have a massive variety of groups; one day you could be teaching Archery to year 4’s and the next you could be doing bushcraft with an adult group doing developmental work. Every day is different!
We will provide you with all the training needed to be a role model for all the young people that visit us. You will take part in a host of nationally recognised outdoor qualifications as well as in‑house training courses.
Qualifications that can be achieved in the first year- BCU Paddlesport Instructor
- Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course
- Archery GB
- Climbing Wall Instructor Award Training and possibly assessment
- 2 day Outdoor First Aid
We will also complete a DBS for you as well as a thorough induction and training process that will last approx. 2 months.
Ideal Requirements (but not essential)- Grade 4 / Grade C equivalent in English and Maths
- Desire to work in the outdoors (in all weather)
- Strong work ethic
- Interest in working with young people
- Positive attitude
- Work as part of team and alone
- Aged 18+ by April 2026
This can be an in‑house position, or you can live out; we have catering facilities on site for you to use. We work a 5 day week including weekends with some evening sessions. You will also complement our team of fulltime and seasonal staff. You will be required to work in all aspects of centre life, delivering sessions and assisting in keeping the centre clean and site maintenance.
We can provide you accommodation on site if needed.

The apprenticeship is the start of your journey to working in the outdoors. 28 days holiday pro rata.
Application ProcedureWe are running a recruitment and selection days on Saturday / Sunday 15th or 16th November. You will need to attend either day where we will take part in various activities and have a sit down interview.
