Are you an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a full‑time role from February?
A welcoming and inclusive first school in Bromsgrove is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work full time from February until July, with the potential to extend in September. This rewarding role involves supporting a Year 4 class, with a combination of 1:1 SEN support in the mornings and general classroom support in the afternoons.
In the mornings, you will work 1:1 with a child with autism who is non‑verbal, providing consistent, patient, and tailored support to help them access learning and feel secure within the school environment. In the afternoons, you will support the wider Year 4 class alongside the class teacher. The school is looking for a caring SEN Teaching Assistant who is confident, reliable, and committed to inclusive practice.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team to ensure the child’s needs are met and that learning is accessible for all pupils.
Responsibilities- Providing 1:1 support for a child with autism who is non‑verbal during morning sessions.
- Supporting communication, engagement, and access to learning using appropriate strategies.
- Assisting with transitions and daily routines.
- Providing general classroom support within the Year 4 class in the afternoons.
- Promoting a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment.
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and the SENCo.
- Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting children with autism.
- Experience supporting non‑verbal pupils and using communication strategies (such as visuals or Makaton) is desirable.
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A proactive and reliable attitude.
- Competitive daily rate, from £88.92 to £100 per day.
- Holiday Pay – PAYE candidates accrue 12.07% of their day rate.
