Position: Learning and Support Assistant (FTC Maternity cover)

Learning & Support Assistant (Fixed Term Maternity Cover)
32.5 hours per week, term time only (8:45‑3:45 PM Monday‑Friday inclusive). Salary: £27,122–£27,528 pro‑rata. (Pay increase pending)

Chads grove School is a day special school for pupils whose special educational needs arise from their physical disabilities, complex medical needs, profound and multiple learning difficulties, sensory impairments, and communication difficulties. There are 128 pupils aged 2‑19 on roll.

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching activities in the classroom.
  • Assist with changing and personal care of pupils.
  • Work cooperatively within a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Support individual pupils to enable full access to the school curriculum.
  • Assist with the administration of medication, after being trained.
  • Maintain a positive and empathetic relationship with pupils and colleagues.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Physical fitness and ability to work in a physically demanding role.
  • Adaptability, good sense of humour, and empathy for pupils’ individual needs.
  • Previous experience working with physically disabled pupils is an advantage but not essential.
  • Willingness to receive training to administer medication.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Desire to work safely with a child‑free training and support framework.
