About the Role

We are seeking a Geo‑Environmental Consultant to join our team in Bromsgrove, with opportunities for rapid professional development and promotion for the right candidate. We're looking for someone with approximately 1‑3+ years relevant experience who is a team player with drive, ambition and commitment to producing quality work. You'll work as part of an experienced team delivering geo‑environmental and geotechnical consultancy services to a diverse range of clients, with a good balance of site and office working.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be familiar with relevant standards, guidance and legislative background to the geo‑environmental and geotechnical industry
  • Supervise ground investigations involving various techniques, manage subcontractors, log and sample soil and rock to BS5930
  • Monitor gas and groundwater, undertake in‑situ tests, and conduct validation visits
  • Schedule chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing and produce exploratory hole logs using Open Ground or similar
  • Produce calculations from templates and drawings (including in CAD)
  • Write Phase I desk study reports and Coal Mining Risk Assessments (CMRAs)
  • Prepare health and safety documentation and implement safety standards on site
  • Write interpretive reports including Phase II geo‑environmental assessments, risk assessments, and geotechnical assessments
  • Input, screen, analyse and interpret site data, presenting clear logical arguments
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and suppliers
  • Prepare proposals for new work and check/approve subcontractor invoices
  • Comply with internal policies, procedures and ISO standards
Essential Requirements
  • Approximately 1‑3+ years relevant experience
  • Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant subject (geology, environmental science, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, physical geography etc.)
  • Full UK driving licence (manual transmission)
  • Good IT skills and competent with MS Office
  • Strong work ethic, able to work effectively alone or as part of a team
  • Good problem‑solving skills with ability to adapt and find practical solutions
Desirable
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and Open Ground
  • Knowledge of remediation strategies and techniques
  • Experience with verification of remediation works and preparation of verification reports
  • Familiarity with earthworks, materials/waste management, and MMPs under CL:

    AIRE DoWCoP
  • Soil mechanics knowledge and foundation bearing capacity calculations
  • Experience liaising with regulators
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £30,000 - £34,000 dependent on experience and provide a comprehensive range of benefits including:
