Position: Chief Finance Officer - The Spire Trust
Location: Catshill

Chief Finance Officer

The Spire Church of England Learning Trust is seeking a highly organised, qualified finance professional to lead the finance function across a growing Multi‑Academy Trust comprising six schools.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management of the Trust’s finance functions
  • Ensure robust financial governance, compliance and audit assurance
  • Produce accurate management accounts and financial reports
  • Support budget setting, forecasting and financial planning
  • Lead audit preparation and statutory compliance
  • Maintain strong financial controls and regulatory compliance
  • Provide financial advice and analysis to leaders and directors
  • Contribute to ongoing development of finance systems and processes
Qualifications and Experience
  • Recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent)
  • Strong financial management and technical accounting skills
  • Excellent communication skills to explain finance to non‑financial colleagues
  • Highly organised, proactive and solution‑focused
  • Experience with in the education sector desirable

Additional Information

Hours: 37 hours per week (term time plus 10 days; part‑time and full‑time options available)
Salary: Scale PO6 (48‑51) £60,149 – £63,576 pro rata
Closing date: Wednesday 1 July 2026
Interviews: Friday 10 July 2026

The position requires an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and pre‑employment checks.
