Psychiatrist

Job Title

This is an OPEN CONTINOUS announcement. Qualified applicants will be forwarded to the hiring manager on a weekly basis.

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health conditions in veterans.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans, including pharmacotherapy and various forms of psychotherapy.
• Provide medication management services, including prescription, monitoring, and adjustment of psychiatric medications.
• Offer crisis intervention and immediate care for veterans experiencing acute psychiatric crises.

• Work cohesively with a multidisciplinary BHIP team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and primary care providers, to ensure comprehensive and holistic care for patients.
• Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient care plans and progress.

• Provide education and support to patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatments, and coping strategies.
• Serve as a clinical educator for medical residents, offering supervision, mentorship, and instructional sessions to enhance their psychiatric training and clinical skills.

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and medication management.
• Ensure compliance with VA policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

• Provide outpatient psychiatric care consistent with the operational hours of the Outpatient Mental Health Section.
• Participate in on-call coverage as required, addressing urgent mental health needs outside of regular clinic hours.

Work Schedule:

M-F, 8am-4:30pm
