Manufacturing Process Engineer

Base pay range: $45.00/hr - $46.00/hr

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing systems for crankshafts and gears in new powertrain programs across Southeast Michigan and Ohio.
  • Apply machining expertise—particularly in steel and iron cutting and grinding—to optimize processes for quality, cost, timing, and footprint.
  • Lead equipment installation, commissioning, capability runs, and handover to powertrain plants.
  • Manage equipment procurement: initiate bids, evaluate proposals, and collaborate with Purchasing to place orders.
  • Work closely with OEMs, suppliers, product teams, and plant engineering to resolve technical and delivery issues.
  • Coordinate project elements including facilities, safety, ergonomics, material handling, tooling, and gauging.
  • Support discrete event simulation for constraint analysis and partner with Industrial Engineers to improve throughput.
  • Travel up to 100% to Southeast Michigan and Ohio manufacturing plants during installation and launch phases.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience for candidates with 8+ years in crankshaft manufacturing).
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering and manufacturing experience.
  • Proficient in GD&T and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within cross‑functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage complex projects with multiple objectives.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Demonstrated track record of customer-focused work.
