CNC Machine Set-Up Operator (2nd & 3rd Shift Openings!)

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, shop orders and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) sheets to establish work responsibilities.
  • Set‑up and operate CNC machines to machine plastic parts according to specifications, tooling, instructions and standard charts applying knowledge of machine methods.
  • Performs set‑ups and changeovers—selects positions, secures tool in the tool holder (chuck, collet, or tool post) and makes proper settings on controls or fabricates plastic parts.
  • Has knowledge and ability to edit programs to improve cycle times; must know G‑Codes.
  • Positions and secures workpiece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers or fixtures using clamps and wrenches.
  • Uses verniers, calipers, and tape measure to ensure parts are in compliance with work order and print.
  • Works in a safety‑conscious manner ensuring self and others’ safety and operates machinery in accordance with JSA requirements.
  • Records steps in production process (time, counts, operation/shop order numbers, materials used, visual and dimensional characteristics).
  • Works cooperatively with external customers and team members to improve quality and performance.
  • Identifies, resolves and/or communicates job or machine problems.
  • Ensures materials, secondary operation equipment and IN and OUT scrap containers are staged.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area.
  • Performs preventative maintenance as required.
  • Instructs or trains others on machining techniques.
  • Applies knowledge and experience and makes process or improvement recommendations on jobs.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend written work orders and simple instructions, standard shop rules and procedure manuals, and communicate ideas to other employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to read blueprints, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, fractions, and decimals.
