Pet Groomer Trainee role  Stylist in Training is obtained once the associate has successfully completed the Pet Smart Grooming Academy.

• Under supervision, perform full menu of bath, brush and grooming services and standalone services (nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary services) in accordance with Pet Smart’s standards.
• Develop and display safe technical grooming skills meeting or exceeding company expectations.
• Recommend additional health and wellness solutions to pet parents based on pet’s needs.
• Manage the pet parent experience and outcomes in person, over the phone, and at the sales register.
• Greet pet parents, answer questions, and assist with reservations in the salon.
• Conduct appointment reminder calls, maintain client records, and consult with pet parents on services offered.
• Handle check-in and check-out procedures for grooming appointments and rebooking documentation.
• Promote opportunities to grow salon sales and achieve sales targets and related metrics.
• Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise and services.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions for all pets in the grooming area; perform end-of-day cleaning per maintenance checklist.
• Take immediate action if a sick/injured pet is identified; transport to the vet as needed.
• Assist in other departments as required; other duties may be assigned.
• Participate in the culture of Belonging and Recognition.
• Follow all Company Policies and Procedures.

• Successful completion of Pet Smart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification program.
• Prior grooming experience preferred; may be asked to complete a technical exam.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
• Flexibility in schedule; able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and safety measures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Standing, walking, climbing a ladder; using hands to handle, feel, hold, write; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch; depth perception; reasonable accommodations available.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift more than 100 pounds with team assistance.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts; wet environment with pet hair; moderate noise level with potential for higher noise; exposure to live animals.
