Lifeguard I at YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta

As a leading provider of education, wellness, youth development, and community building, the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta brings people together. We are looking for a Lifeguard I to maintain safe swimming conditions and promote safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

• Maintain active surveillance of the pool area.
• Know and review all emergency procedures and respond immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures, completing related reports as required.
• Understand and consistently apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic areas.
• Maintain accurate records required by the YMCA and/or local and state health department code.
• Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
• Perform chemical testing when not guarding, taking appropriate action.
• Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR-O, YMCA Lifeguard, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Emergency procedures, and any other required certifications.
• Assist as needed in all aspects of the YMCA and its community.
• Attend all staff meetings and monthly in‑service training.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Show up 15 minutes prior to shift start time.
• Wear the YMCA approved uniform per guidelines.

• Minimum age of 16.
• Certifications:
  
  Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer CPR/AED, First Aid, and emergency oxygen administration.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent; if not YMCA must be crossed over within the first 60 days.
• Ability to respond in a timely manner to safety and emergency situations.
• Exemplify YMCA ideals and leadership qualities.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills and personal commitment to service and hospitality.

This position is full‑time and entry level. Beneficiaries receive the standard YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta benefits package.

• Ability to pass a pre‑employment background check including criminal record check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
