Overview

Team Lead, Petsense — Petsense by Tractor Supply. This position assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with the execution of operational, sales, and merchandising objectives by providing outstanding customer service. It also promotes a safe and productive work environment for Team Members, customers, and vendors, and involves training Team Members on policies and procedures.

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts and flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed by business needs.
• Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following and enforcing policies and procedures.
• Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
• Thank the Customer
• Engage with the customer and/or pet
• Advise on products or services
• Make it Memorable

• Execute basic, promotional, and seasonal merchandising activities.
• Perform Opening/Closing procedures.
• Transport and deposit funds to the bank.
• Assess store conditions and assign duties.
• Organize and prioritize workflow using the daily planner.
• Recover merchandise and participate in mandatory freight processes.
• Perform regular and promotional price changes.
• Resolve customer complaints/issues and ensure a positive customer experience.
• Adhere to loss prevention standards and respond to alarms as needed.
• Communicate with Team Members on job functions, responsibilities, and financial goals.
• Operate cash register and supervise cash handling procedures.
• Assist Team Members with applying policies and procedures.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of live animals; sanitize and maintain holding tanks and care for live animals as required.
• Complete all documentation related to above duties.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Retail experience and/or pet/live animal knowledge is strongly preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required. Regardless of education level, Team Members must be able to read, write and count accurately.

• Pet/Live Animal knowledge; pet food and pet product knowledge is strongly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to perform and execute principal responsibilities of Team Members.

• Indoor environment with moderate noise; generally favorable.
• Indoor floors and outdoor lots are hard surfaces; lighting and temperature are adequate.
• Shifts vary by store but are generally no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours.
• Promote a safe and productive work environment for Team Members and customers and adhere to safety training and guidelines.

• Non-sedentary position; ability to move throughout the store and outdoor areas quickly and safely.
• Operate equipment such as computer systems and cash registers; provide high level of customer service.
• Ability to perform tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, kneeling, bending, climbing ladders, and moving live animals or equipment as required.
• Ability to travel as needed for district support and drive for business needs.
