Join to apply for the Veterinary Extern - General Practice role at NVA General Practice
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students the opportunity to understand day-to-day practice operations and gain hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment, commitment to excellent medicine, and a focus on exceptional service to animals and their people.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, conducting diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to clinical skills, externs will have the opportunity to practice communication with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences at Town and Country Animal Clinic range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
