• Assist customers in discovering new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of food specials and recommend items to meet their needs.
• Check product quality, review “sell by” dates, and take appropriate action to ensure freshness.
• Provide fresh and non‑perishable grocery products to customers as ordered.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations, ensure proper temperature maintenance, and keep temperature logs.
• Maintain knowledge of products sold in the department and answer customer questions.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel appreciated and valued.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
