Part‑time, Temporary Instructors of Criminology
The School of Psychology, Sociology and Rural Studies at South Dakota State University is seeking part‑time, temporary instructors of Criminology to join our vibrant academic community. These positions offer flexible course assignments (16%–49%) on a semester‑by‑semester basis beginning with the 2025–2026 academic year. Courses may be taught on campus in Brookings, South Dakota, as well as online or hybrid formats, providing opportunities to engage students in multiple learning environments.
Instructors will be supported by and collaborate with the School’s Director and faculty who are dedicated to student success.
- Provide high‑quality teaching of a variety of undergraduate courses in Criminology, including Introduction to Criminal Justice on the SDSU campus in Brookings.
- Participate as necessary in the collection of course‑based assessment data for student learning outcomes.
- Communicate in a timely fashion with students, colleagues, staff, and director.
This part‑time temporary position is not associated with additional benefits or retirement plan.
Minimum Qualifications- Hold a Master’s degree in Criminology or a closely related field by start date.
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience teaching at the university level.
- Experience with educational technology applications, e.g., D2L learning management system.
