Dryer Bagger

Overview

The Dryer Packager maintains responsibility for packaging bulk powder and taking appropriate samples for testing. The drying process is necessary to produce powders and colostrum products. Incumbent is expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness in the packaging room at all times. Overall knowledge of the sifter, metal detector, packaging unit and heat sealer is expected from all Dryer Packagers.

• Fill, seal and palletize powder per 20kg bag
• Maintaining an organized and sanitary work environment at all times
• Paying attention to the bagging process and ensuring the bag is closed when necessary to prevent contamination
• Inspection of sifter screens, metal detector and magnet

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of these knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.

• Using a scale to precisely weigh 20 kg bags
• Fill bags and take samples in a sanitary manner
• Feed bags into a heat sealer and stack bags on a pallet

• Dryer Packagers must be skilled in bagging procedures, cleaning procedures and good manufacturing practices

• The Dryer Packager must have the ability to pay attention to detail and maintain sanitary conditions
• The ability to take initiative if an issue or problem arises is required

Not Needed

The physical demands described here are representative of those that could be expected of an employee in the performance of the essential functions of this job. Incumbent will be expected to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking up to 12 hours a day. Must be capable of communicating with others both verbally and in writing; will be expected to use hands or fingers to manipulate equipment other than a keyboard.

May occasionally be required to reach below and/or above waist level and below and/or above shoulders or head. Light to heavy repetitive lifting (up to 50 pounds) will be required of each incumbent.

Vision requirements include close, distance, and midrange vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus near and far frequently.

The work environment is moderately noisy with running equipment and machines. Interruptions may be occasional to include answering questions for other Dryer Operators and fixing issues to maintain the flow of production.
