About Us

Far Out is a New Zealand-style ice cream company based in Boston, MA. We blend real fruit with premium ice cream to create made‑to‑order, vibrant desserts that bring joy to our guests. Our mission is simple:
serve exceptional ice cream with enlightened hospitality
. As we continue to grow through pop‑ups, events, and new shop openings, we’re looking for a dedicated Events Supervisor to help lead our catering and events program.

Position Overview

The Events Supervisor is the on‑site lead for Far Out’s events and catering operations — ensuring every event runs smoothly, safely, and memorably. This role bridges operations and hospitality: you’ll lead small teams, oversee event setup and breakdown, maintain high standards of service, and serve as the face of Far Out Ice Cream for clients and guests. It is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role suited for someone who’s dependable, detail‑oriented, and thrives in dynamic environments.

You’ll also work occasional in‑store shifts to stay connected with the broader team and menu.

Event Operations & Leadership
  • Lead all on‑site event setup, service, and breakdown with a focus on efficiency and guest experience.
  • Manage and direct event staff — ensuring clear communication, delegation, and teamwork.
  • Maintain event equipment, vehicle readiness, and small inventories.
  • Uphold health, safety, and cleanliness standards throughout each event.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and ensure a professional, friendly presence.
Logistics & Coordination
  • Prep event supplies, ingredients, and signage.
  • Load and transport equipment using the company van (driver’s license required).
  • Verify event logistics (arrival times, parking, power, serving setup, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Regional Manager on staffing coverage and vehicle maintenance.
Client Experience & Feedback
  • Represent the Far Out brand with warmth, professionalism, and care.
  • Collect and relay client feedback post‑event to August (Director of Events).
  • Support repeat business opportunities by delivering consistently excellent service.
Team & Communication
  • Participate in a 15‑minute weekly check‑in with August and Brad.
  • Report event summaries, quality control notes, and any operational needs.
  • Ability to pick up in‑store shifts if they want more hours and to familiarize themselves with the brand and operation.
Qualifications
  • 2–3 years of food service or hospitality experience (event/catering experience preferred).
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license; comfort driving large vehicles (van training provided).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills — confident managing small teams.
  • Ability to stay on feet for extended periods and lift and move equipment to and from different sites.
  • Excellent customer service instincts with calmness under pressure.
  • Dependable, detail‑oriented, and self‑motivated.
  • Availability on weekends and evenings (typical event times).
  • 6‑month minimum commitment preferred.
Ideal Candidate
  • A post‑grad or creative professional looking for flexible, engaging work that blends operations and hospitality.
  • Energized by fast‑paced, people‑centered environments.
  • Excited to help elevate the Far Out brand at weddings, festivals, and corporate events across the region.
Benefits
  • Free ice cream or beverage each shift
  • 25% employee discount
  • Paid training
  • Opportunities for advancement into full‑time or management roles
  • Performance‑based bonuses during peak season

Pay: $16 per hour (+ tips)
