Under the supervision of the principal, the art teacher is responsible for creating an environment that supports a culture of learning and embraces student achievement. They create lesson plans, model exemplary behavior, facilitate art instruction aligned with state and school standards, and develop comprehensive instructional programs that challenge students and promote engagement. The teacher partners with teachers across grade levels and collaborates with academic coaches.

• Develop instruction and lesson plans in partnership with Academic Coaches.
• Foster a learning culture that embraces scholars’ strengths.
• Engage families and parents.
• Outline daily teaching objectives in lesson plans.
• Create classroom strategies that cater to individual learning needs.
• Collaborate with academic coaches and administrators to identify and implement intervention strategies.
• Facilitate classroom interventions.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals.
• Utilize a curriculum reflecting diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Complete administrative duties – grading, copying, printing, scheduling.
• Use data to individualize learning opportunities.
• Research classroom trends that enhance instruction.
• Model positive behavior, support a safe and secure learning environment.
• Implement PBIS throughout the classroom and school.
• Follow the RHINO Way, ensuring students abide by its principles.
• Inspire a professional atmosphere with a positive outlook on education.
• Empower scholars and families to achieve academic goals.
• Foster a classroom that embraces knowledge, innovation, and opportunities.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
• Licensed to teach in Minnesota or able to obtain a license within six months of employment.
• 1+ years of experience in an art classroom as a teacher, substitute, or student teacher.
• Knowledge of MN state standards.
• Ability to create a safe learning environment for families and scholars.
• Experience working in a diverse community, particularly a Hmong community; preference for those who speak, write, and read Hmong.
• Ability to inspire, foster, and empower scholars, staff members, and parents in an academic setting.
• Ability to work in a professional and fast‑paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize urgent work.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Adobe/PDF.
