The Role

We are seeking a Production Planner who will be responsible for planning and coordinating the production activities to meet customer demand while optimizing the use of resources. This role requires a strong ability to manage schedules, monitor inventory levels, and maintain communication between departments to ensure timely production and delivery of products. This role is an on-site role located in Brooklyn Center, MN.

Only local candidates will be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Scheduling:
    • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders, internal and forecasted demand using data driven the MRP system.
    • Work with production supervision to manage workflows effectively.
    • Identify and communicate capacity constraints to production supervision.
  • Process Optimization:
    • Identify inefficiencies in production processes and work with the production team to implement improvements that enhance productivity and reduce costs.
    • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., procurement, logistics, quality control) to streamline processes and assign jobs based upon product availability.
  • Coordination and Communication:
    • Act as a liaison between production, engineering, procurement, and sales departments to ensure alignment of production priorities.
    • Spend time on the production floor monitoring job progress and be able to modify priorities as production needs change.
    • Work with production supervision to understand production status and potential delays. Be able to not only communicate the information to relevant stakeholders but be able to provide options to get back on track.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Address any disruptions or bottlenecks in the production process and work with the production team to find solutions to maintain flow.
  • Reporting:
    • Present reports to management to assist in decision-making and resource allocation.

Physical Requirements
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

Experience And Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Production Planner or similar role in manufacturing or supply chain management required.
  • Experience with multiple work centers, including machining and complex assemblies with multiple levels.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes and scheduling systems.
  • Proficiency in ERP software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 products, especially Excel required.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
