The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for the entire successful execution of a project. Their primary responsibilities are to plan, direct, coordinate, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines, and within a budget. The Assistant Project Manager shall also participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, estimating, scheduling, and implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Define project scope and goals with team and upper management.
  • Develop project schedules, plan materials, and purchase orders, ensuring work is within project scope.
  • Act as liaison between South‑Town and customers regarding all communications, both verbal and written. This shall include periodic visits to customers, handling of customer feedback, and assisting in collection of payments when necessary.
  • Obtain sub‑contractor estimates and bids, performing project buyouts, and managing subcontractors' progress against budget.
  • Manage construction job setup including schedule, submittals, equipment, and material orders.
  • Resolve problems which may arise during construction project with team members, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Review plans and specifications for completeness, and prepare RFIs for additional information required, and process change orders as needed.
  • Monitor cost on projects for variances to the estimate and for use in preparation of bids on future projects.
  • Manage close‑out documents such as as‑built, warranty letters, start‑up reports, balance reports, and O&M'S.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project management and execution.
  • Help identify and resolve issues/conflicts within the project team.
  • Assist in project debriefs; create recommendations reports identifying successful and unsuccessful aspects of the project.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with subcontractors.
  • Attend sales meetings, conventions, trade fairs, and engineering society activities on an as‑needed basis.
  • Estimate piping construction jobs as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in construction or project management OR 1 year of prior experience in project management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly developed organizational skills with the ability to collaborate as part of a team.
  • Strong dedication to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to strategically plan and identify long‑term objectives and outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Competency in conflict and crisis management.
  • Self‑motivated with strong time and project management skills.
  • Ability to work within an environment with deadlines while having to multitask multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to regularly navigate the metro area.
Preferred Skills
  • AutoCAD/Revit experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction/project management.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit up to eight (8) hours per working day.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, use hands and fingers to grasp and handle objects.
