Power your future with Qualus in our Specialized Field Services department as a Field Service Technician III. Your responsibilities include performing testing, maintenance, and repair of low and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switch gear, motor control, and other electrical apparatus in the shop and in the field. Travel: 30-50% overnight travel.
Responsibilities- Provide technical capabilities for testing relays, circuit breakers, transformers, motor control equipment, and related switch gear in the field.
- Complete mechanical work and repairs on breakers and switches, including tear down, refurbishment, and parts replacement.
- Serve as a technical leader in testing, maintenance, and repair of breakers, transformers, switch gear, motor control, and associated equipment.
- Provide proper preparation and documentation for site projects.
- Wiring circuit breakers.
- Utilize and accurately read test equipment.
- Read schematics and wiring drawings.
- Troubleshoot circuit breaker controls.
- Read and plot time-current curves.
- Test transformers, including Power Factor and TTR.
- Accurately and consistently document using Power DB.
- Provide instruction and mentorship in training for junior level technicians.
- Be able to work with electrical tools and socket sets.
- Education:
High School Diploma. - Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Switchgear/High Voltage Technician; proficiency with high voltage test equipment and knowledge of low and medium voltage test equipment.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; deal with problems involving multiple variables.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
- Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English.
- Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Certifications & Licenses: NETA 2 preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading and writing) due to the nature of safety-related materials, documentation, and interactions with clients.
