This company operates one of the largest digital commerce, supply chain, and enterprise technology ecosystems in the industry, supporting millions of customers through modern, scalable platforms and services.
In this role, you will serve as a senior engineering specialist responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining highly scalable backend services and applications. You will work within a collaborative Agile environment, helping shape application architecture, influencing technical design decisions, and delivering robust solutions that support critical business operations. This position also includes participation in a rotating on-call support model for products operating in a 24/7 environment.
As a Java/Kotlin Software Developer, you will provide technical leadership and hands‑on development expertise across backend applications, services, and distributed systems. You will translate architectural concepts into practical technical solutions and apply modern software engineering principles to build reliable, high‑performing products.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-scale backend applications and services.
- Lead architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions.
- Build and enhance microservices and event-driven systems.
- Design and develop RESTful APIs and backend integrations.
- Develop Kafka consumers, producers, and event-processing solutions.
- Perform code reviews, design reviews, testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
- Promote software quality through test-driven development and automated testing practices.
- Implement and maintain observability and monitoring solutions.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver business-critical solutions.
- Contribute to operational readiness, including change management, deployment practices, incident management, and on‑call support.
- Ensure data quality standards are embedded throughout data acquisition, storage, processing, and operational workflows.

- Spring Boot and Micronaut-based services.
- Kotlin as the primary backend programming language.
- Mature CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
- Cloud-ready and containerized applications.
- High levels of automation, observability, logging, and monitoring.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience in enterprise or large-scale environments.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java.
- Experience developing applications using Spring Boot and/or Micronaut.
- Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Experience working with Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, and stream processing.
- Expertise with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Strong SQL development and database design skills.
- Experience with Git, Maven and/or Gradle.
- Experience with CI/CD tools, practices, and deployment pipelines.
- Familiarity with cloud-native application development.
- Experience with container technologies and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
