Correctional HVAC Technician
The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC) is recruiting for a Correctional HVAC Technician to join the Brooklyn Correctional Institution. This recruitment may also fill vacancies across state correctional facilities as openings occur within the next year.

- This is a full‑time, first shift position (36.25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 3:00 PM).
- Selected candidates will attend a 14‑week paid hazardous duty training at the Maloney Center for Training & Staff Development in Cheshire, CT.
- Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain steam, hot water heating, and chill water piping/distribution systems.
- Maintain ventilation distribution, fan, and HVAC systems.
- Maintain steam and hot water boilers.
- Maintain chilled water piping/distribution systems and chilled water (chiller) systems.
- Maintain cell ventilation and ductwork.
- Supervise assigned inmates at a Correctional Institution.
- Keep records of tool/inventory control.
- Protect the health and safety of the public, staff, and inmates.
- Perform snow and ice removal to maintain safe access for police, medical, staff, and the public.
- Maintain mandated compliance with federal and state statutes and agency directives to ensure humane conditions of confinement.

The Brooklyn Correctional Institution is a level 3 medium‑security facility offering extensive programming for offender reintegration, including Educational Services, Vocational Programs, Literacy Volunteers, Sex Offender Programming, and Substance Abuse Programming.
