Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Brooklyn, New York in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This position will play a key role in managing receivables, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the integrity of the general ledger. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting expertise, a detail-oriented approach, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Process and post incoming payments while ensuring accounts receivable activity is recorded accurately and on time.
• Monitor and manage government, program-based, and other outstanding receivables, including Medicaid-related balances.
• Reconcile accounts receivable sub-ledger activity to the general ledger and investigate any discrepancies to resolution.
• Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation to maintain complete and accurate financial records.
• Perform account analysis and reconciliations to support month-end close and ongoing financial reporting needs.
• Complete bank reconciliations and review cash activity to confirm proper recording of transactions.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve billing or payment issues and improve the accuracy of receivable balances.
