What’s the role
We are looking for a driven Grade 5 Special Education Teacher to deliver engaging, standards‑based instruction, utilize Responsive Classroom techniques, and monitor student progress while collaborating with colleagues to refine teaching practices. Hebrew language is not required. We strongly encourage candidates from traditionally under‑represented groups.
What you’ll do
- Commit to high academic standards for all students
- Engage in professional growth through self‑reflection and feedback
- Provide instructional services to students with IEPs in reading, math, and writing
- Deliver prescribed instructional methods as determined by the student’s IEP
- Collaborate with school personnel to coordinate services
- Communicate with parents about student progress
- Manage an organized and professional classroom conducive to learning
- Support students in preparing for the NYS State Exam
- Develop multifaceted curriculum integrating multiple subjects to meet individual needs
- Lead classroom differentiation through curricular modifications, instructional techniques, and integrated classroom strategies
- Assess and develop goals for the IEP process
- Implement IEP goals and strategies into an integrated classroom
- Incorporate school strategic initiatives into your work
- Accurately report student progress and maintain up‑to‑date records of achievement and IEP goals
- Review data daily and adjust your approach accordingly
- Identify and create opportunities for professional development
- Attend IEP meetings and parent conferences
- Build strong relationships with parents and students to invest in school culture and academics
- Maintain professional obligations through efficient work habits, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and collaborating effectively with co‑teachers and colleagues
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (required);
Master’s degree is a plus - K‑12 lead teaching experience in a classroom setting is a plus
- Experience in urban, public charter, or Title I schools is a plus
- Hold NY teacher certification or working toward certification is a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Legally authorized to work in the USA
