- The NYC Department of Homeless Services is hiring Registered Nurses to join our Crisis Intervention Team.
- In this field-based role, you’ll provide direct medical and mental health care to individuals experiencing homelessness across the city.
- Conduct medical, mental health, and safety assessments for individuals in need across streets, subways, and parks.
- Partner with DHS Crisis Coordinators, outreach teams, and community partners to build trust and encourage acceptance of services or shelter. Identify individuals in crisis who require immediate medical or psychiatric intervention, taking swift action as needed.
- Evaluate risk of harm to self or others and implement emergency responses in accordance with Section 9.58 of the Mental Hygiene Law.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, hospitals, and transport teams for safe transfers and continuity of care.
- Deliver direct, hands‑on medical attention in both field and office settings.
- Complete accurate and»-timely clinical documentation and maintain compliance with program requirements.
- Collaborate with hospital clinicians (C.P.E.P.) to ensure effective treatment planning.
- Maintain authorization to operate as part of a mobile crisis outreach team (DOHMH approval)
- Active NY State RN License + AHA BLS Certification 2+ years in mental behavioral health (experience with vulnerable populations preferred)
- Calm, compassionate, and strong crisis intervention skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; travel across boroughs required
- Competitive inhibited: $80–$85/hour
