Civic Engagement Coordinator

The Civic Engagement Coordinator supports the organization's community engagement, civic participation, and advocacy efforts. Working closely with community residents, staff, community partners, and public institutions, the Coordinator helps identify community priorities, strengthen resident participation, support community-led initiatives, and create opportunities for residents to engage in issues that affect their families and neighborhoods.

The position serves as a bridge between community experiences, organizational programming, and public systems. A core focus of the role is ensuring that community members have access to information, opportunities to share their perspectives, and meaningful ways to participate in civic and public decision-making processes.

Key responsibilities include building strong and trusting relationships with community members and supporting their active participation in civic engagement, advocacy, and community decision-making. The Coordinator gathers and elevates community feedback, organizes and facilitates community meetings, develops and implements civic engagement and advocacy initiatives, supports community members in participating in public hearings and other civic engagement opportunities, and monitors and researches relevant policy developments.

Qualifications include a master's degree in a relevant field with two years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree with four years of relevant experience. Knowledge of community issues, familiarity with government structures, experience working with community partners, strong communication skills, and a commitment to community empowerment are required. Bilingual proficiency is preferred.

The Coordinator builds and maintains collaborative relationships with community members, program participants, colleagues, community partners, and public institutions. The role requires work in both office and community-based settings, regular local travel, participation in evening and occasional weekend meetings, and occasional travel outside the immediate service area. Hybrid work arrangements may be available.
