Virtual screening process
Maimonides Medical Center is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to join a high-acuity obstetrical team. The RN will provide care to low-risk and high-risk laboring patients, antepartum patients, postpartum patients, and surgical obstetrical patients while collaborating with physicians, anesthesia, NICU staff, and ancillary personnel in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery environment.
Unit Overview
* 10 LDR rooms
* 5 High-Risk Antepartum Rooms
* 9-bed Triage Unit
* 4-bed PACU
* 3 Obstetrical Operating Suites
* Approximately 5,600 annual births
* Level IV NICU support
* NICU attends all deliveries
* Types of Patients/Services
* Labor & Delivery
* High-Risk Antepartum
* Low-Risk Labor & Delivery
* Induction of Labor
* Triage
* PACU Recovery
* Cesarean Sections
* LDRP Care
Staffing & Ratios
Ancillary support includes Surgical Technicians and Patient Care Technicians.
Typical nurse-to-patient ratios:
* 1:1 Active Labor/Complications
* 1:2 Earlier Stage Labor
* 1:1 to 1:3 High-Risk Antepartum
* 1:1 to 1:2 L&D PACU
* Triage staffed with 2-3 RNs
Schedule:
* 12.5-hour shifts with 60-minute unpaid lunch
* Alternate weekends required
Required Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience
* Previous travel experience required
* Mother-Baby experience required
Experience with :
* High-Risk Labor & Delivery
* High-Risk Antepartum
* Low-Risk Labor & Delivery
* LDRP
* Circulating Cesarean Sections
Required Certifications
* BLS
* ACLS
* NRP
* EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
This position is ideal for an experienced Labor & Delivery RN who is comfortable caring for both high-risk and low-risk obstetrical patients, circulating cesarean sections, supporting antepartum populations, and working in a busy delivery service with strong NICU partnership.
