Position Overview

Registered Nurses at Kingsboro Psychiatric Center are members of a multidisciplinary team focused on providing compassionate, patient-centered, and recovery-focused mental health services to individuals with mental illness. RNs will provide comprehensive nursing care, support treatment plans, monitor patient health, and collaborate with other members of the care team to promote patient well-being and recovery.

Psychiatric experience is not required. Experience is not mandatory, and new graduate nurses are welcome. New nurses will receive orientation, support, and all required clinical training during the facility's orientation program.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of patients and identify healthcare needs.
• Prepare, implement, evaluate, and modify individualized nursing care plans.
• Provide health teaching, counseling, and education to patients and their families.
• Coordinate and provide nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Observe and document patients' symptoms, condition, and care provided.
• Monitor and report patient responses to medications, treatments, and changes in health status.
• Implement infection control protocols, procedures, and appropriate nursing practices.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with facility requirements.
• Support patient-centered and recovery-focused mental health care practices.
• Communicate patient needs and clinical observations to appropriate members of the healthcare team.

Work Schedule & Conditions

• Monday through Friday, with weekends as needed.
• Two (2) RN positions will work 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM EST.
• Four (4) RN positions will work 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM EST.
• Overtime may be required based on operational and patient-care needs.
• Candidates must be available to work on NYS holidays as required.
• No travel is required for this assignment.
• New graduate nurses are welcome to apply.
• Psychiatric nursing experience is not required.
• Clinical training and facility-specific orientation will be provided by OMH.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License is required by the start date of services.
• BLS Certification, American Heart Association (AHA) approved, is required by the start date.
• Previous psychiatric or behavioral health experience is not required.
• Prior professional nursing experience is not mandatory.
• New graduate RNs are welcome and will receive orientation and clinical support.
• Candidates must demonstrate strong communication, patient-care, observation, documentation, and teamwork skills.
• All required clinical training will be provided during orientation.
