The Director of the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment provides strategic, academic, and operational leadership for the School’s degree programs while serving as the primary partnership director for Roc Nation. The Director ensures the continued growth and excellence of academic programs, oversees experiential learning initiatives, and cultivates student and industry engagement, positioning graduates for successful careers across performance, entrepreneurship, music technology, and sports business.
Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership & Program Oversight- Oversee all academic programs within the School, including Vocal Performance, Applied Music, Music Technology & Entrepreneurship Program (MTEP), Sports Marketing, and Sports Communication.
- Ensure curriculum aligns with industry standards and prepares students for careers in performance, entrepreneurship, and all facets of music and sports business.
- Collaborate with faculty and academic affairs to integrate experiential learning, studio resources, and emerging technologies into the curriculum.
- Maintain academic quality, compliance, and accreditation requirements.
- Foster faculty development and support recruitment and retention of high-quality faculty and staff.
- Serve as the primary liaison with Roc Nation, managing the strategic partnership and identifying new collaboration opportunities.
- Facilitate a dynamic experiential learning program, including the Roc Nation Speaker Series, immersive internships, mentorship programs, and other initiatives that connect students to industry professionals.
- Develop programs leveraging campus resources, including studios, performance spaces, and technology labs, to enhance hands‑on learning.
- Cultivate relationships with industry partners to secure scholarships, in‑kind contributions, guest lecturers, and professional opportunities for students.
- Oversee recruitment strategies and collaborate with admissions to attract and enroll highly qualified students.
- Ensure a vibrant student experience, including advising, mentorship, extracurricular programming, and engagement with visiting artists and professionals.
- Represent the School at recruitment events, industry conferences, community engagements, and virtual platforms.
- Lead the development and execution of the School’s strategic plan in collaboration with University leadership.
- Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and operational management of the School.
- Collaborate with admissions, student affairs, academic affairs, and other University departments to enhance program effectiveness and student outcomes.
- Act as an advocate for the School within the University and the broader community, fostering awareness of programs, achievements, and the Roc Nation partnership.
- Advanced degree in music, music business, arts administration, or a related field; terminal degree preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in higher education, including academic program oversight, faculty management, and strategic partnership development.
- Strong understanding of the music, sports, and entertainment industries, including experiential learning, entrepreneurship, and career preparation.
- Proven track record of student recruitment, retention, and success initiatives.
- Exceptional communication, relationship‑building, and organizational skills.
- On‑campus presence with travel for industry events, recruitment, and partnership initiatives as needed.
- Participation in virtual meetings, events, and collaborations.
