Public Safety Emergency Communications Senior Engineer
Pay rate: $100 to $110 per hour

Location: On-site – 2 Metro Tech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, normal business hours (35 hours/week, excluding unpaid meal break after 6 hours)
Position OverviewThe Emergency Communications Senior Engineer plays critical role in supporting and managing the communication services and technologies that make up New York City’s 911 and emergency response systems. This position ensures the reliability and performance of life safety communication services for residents and visitors.
This is an urgent role that must be filled promptly to prevent any impact on emergency service operations or critical public safety projects.
Scope of Services- Deployment and support of Emergency Communications network infrastructure, including racking, cabling, configuration, and testing.
- Providing technical support for E911 and NG911 telephony and telecommunications systems.
- Supporting Text-to-911 (TT911) services (SMS, MMS, RTT) and associated systems.
- Oversight and coordination of vendor‑managed ESInet services and systems.
- Technical support for Public Safety Unified Communications systems and other emergency telecommunication links.
- Troubleshooting and triaging communication infrastructure issues, performing root cause analysis and remediation.
- Supporting 911 and TT911 test environments within the 911 lab, validating test cases and results.
- Managing technology assets for Emergency Communications.
- Coordinating technology deployments with Originating Service Providers, regional jurisdictions, and relay centers.
- Performing data and performance analysis of communication services.
- Providing oversight of vendors and telecommunications infrastructure support.
Candidates who do not meet the following requirements will not be considered.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in a data center or field support environment.
- At least 8 years of experience in network support, LAN/WAN troubleshooting.
- 8+ years of experience in communications routing, transport, and delivery (Wireline, Wireless, VoIP).
- Proficiency in documentation tools (MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Word).
- Strong understanding of network hardware, topologies, and telecommunication cabling standards.
- Experience terminating and pulling cabling in customer environments.
- Experience with computing systems, hardware, and LEC circuit turn‑up.
- Knowledge of land‑mobile‑radio systems, including P25 conventional and trunked networks.
- Experience with call routing, selective routing, trunking, and location‑based routing.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and follow detailed job documents.
- Willingness to travel within NYC and work on‑call, after hours, and weekends as needed.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience with Emergency Communications infrastructure and technologies.
- Knowledge of DMS, ACD systems, ANI/ALI functionality, and 911 Call Handling Systems.
- Experience with NG911 ESInet call routing and related systems.
- Understanding of SMS, RTT, TCC routing, and SMS aggregation.
- Familiarity with GIS and location‑based systems.
- Experience mitigating 911‑related TDOS and DDOS risks.
- Experience with third‑party emergency communication system integrations.
Compensation: $110.00 per hour
