Frontend Engineer - NYC

Location: Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY (On-site, Full-time)

Salary: $170K – $210K + Equity + $18K Living Proximity Bonus

This role is ideal for ambitious engineers with entrepreneurial goals. Many team members are former or future founders, and this opportunity allows scaling a company from $1M to $10M ARR while partnering with fast-growing tech companies shaping the future of software. The company values in-person collaboration and works out of an office in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn.

• Develop direct relationships with customers. Whether they’re a CTO, VP of Engineering, or Software Engineer, the candidate will be the face of Fern and the first point of contact when customers need assistance. This role involves quickly building a strong network within the SaaS startup community, especially among YC founders.
• Move quickly to support customers. The candidate will work across multiple codebases to release bug fixes and new features. For example, one day they might fix a bug related to the Type Script SDK generator, and another day add features to the Docs Frontend.
• Drive the product roadmap. When receiving customer requests that are challenging to build, the candidate can use the customer context to evaluate assumptions made previously and prioritize features that truly add value and meet customer needs.
• Help build the engineering team. As the company grows, the candidate will work closely with the CEO, CTO, and other founding members to attract and hire talented engineers.

• 0-8 years of professional frontend development experience, ideally including startup environments.
• Top academic background/school — recent hires come from Harvard, Stanford, Brown, etc.
• Experience at a reputable, venture-backed startup.
• Ex-founder experience is a strong plus.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/Type Script, React, and Next.js.
• Willingness to be a polyglot and work across multiple programming languages (e.g., Type Script, Python, Rust).
• A customer-first mindset, with enthusiasm for engaging with users to build polished, user-centric products.

• Salary: $170k - $210k (includes $18,000 annual living proximity bonus if living near the office)
