Assistant Program Director - 2nd Shift @ Beacon MS 45The Assistant Program Director is responsible for assisting the Program Director in the development and management of daily programming for the after school program.
Reports To: Sr. Program Director, Red Hook Beacon
Hours: 35 hours/Week, Non-Exempt
Schedule: Tuesday - Friday (1pm-9pm). Saturday 9am-5pm.
Major Duties:
- Assist Program Director in overseeing the daily operation of all aspects of the Evening/Saturday program.
- Attend all staff meetings and required professional development activities.
- Assist with the design and implementation of programming and scheduling.
- In the absence of the Program Director, provide overall leadership and administration of program.
- Supervise GSS Volunteers, Assistant Group Leaders, Group Leaders, and Youth Interns.
- Mentor and Coach team members.
- Track and input student records and attendance in program databases as needed.
- Help to create an environment of accountability, safety, and responsibility amongst participants, and use the established after school model.
- Coordinate and plan program activities and culminating events.
- Schedule and participate in parent involvement activities.
- Network and outreach to community organizations to provide services and information to program participants.
- Conduct outreach for participants to enroll in programming.
- Work with the Police Dept. for program security and crisis intervention.
- Oversee client referrals to other programs as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required. Candidates with an Associates or higher in Education or Social Work are encouraged to apply.
- Three years’ experience in youth program supervision and/or administration.
- Experience in program development for youth.
- Must be able to engage in crisis-intervention activities and demonstrate, lead, and teach a range of group activities.
- Strong communication, organizational skills. Team Player and Approachability.
- Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and/or youth development perspective.
- Ability to work occasional weekends/late evenings.
- Must be able to pass DOHMH & DOE clearances and background checks.
