The Speech Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. As a member of the healthcare team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals. The Speech Therapist serves as an educator to patients, families, students and colleagues.
We are currently looking for an ambitious Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As our Speech Pathologist you will plan and administer medically prescribed treatment programs for the rehabilitation of speech, language, cognitive, and oral motor disorders.
Responsibilities- Evaluate the patient’s condition, obtain case history, and administer diagnostic tests to determine the nature and degree of speech and language problems.
- Establish, implement, and modify treatment plans in accordance with hospital/department policies and standards of practice.
- Determine when patient progress and goals have been met or when medical necessity no longer warrants intervention.
- Establish provisions for continuing services and refer to other professionals as necessary.
- Conduct subjective assessments and administer objective tests to assess speech-language abilities.
- Structure and implement individualized patient programs to improve communication abilities.
- Evaluate patient regularly during treatment and adjust the program to maximize progress.
- Document progress, notes, charges, discharge notes and patient communications in the chart.
- Consult with Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients.
- Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
- State of Florida Speech Language Pathologist license
- Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Experience in appropriate healthcare setting preferred
- Strong critical thinking, service excellence, interpersonal communication, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions; PC skills
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 30 days of employment
- Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
- Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (or eligible)
