Under the general supervision of medical and nursing staff, following policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, the Surgical Tech 3 assists with surgical and endoscopy procedures. Responsibilities include assembling and caring for surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment before, during, and after procedures. The role also involves cleaning, restocking, and processing of the surgical suite, instruments, and equipment as needed. The Surgical Tech 3 identifies and reports situations requiring intervention to the RN or Clinician.

Additionally, this position serves as a clinical preceptor for new OR scrub tech and OR technician students and functions as a resource in at least five surgical specialty areas. The employee is responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

• Technical Program Surgical Technologist or Licensed Practical Nurse Program

Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Certified Surgical Technologists through the National Board of Surgical Technology or Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or

Certified Surgical Technologists through the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) or

Certified Surgical Technologists through the National Certified Surgical Technician (NCST)

At least 5 years of progressive surgical tech experience
